# Decline an offered conversation

> Decline the conversation the routing engine offered to you and re-route it to the next best-fit agent, using the blended omnichannel-capacity score + skill-catalog proficiency and excluding every agent who already declined it. When no eligible agent remains the conversation returns to the unassigned queue (status pending). The acting user must be the current assignee; returns 422 (ASSIGNMENT_OFFER_STALE) otherwise.
